For the very first time in the History of Mankind ordinary men and women were allowed to come together, to intermingle and walk freely as One Nation. For that brief moment in time, war, politics and nationality were all forgotten.

John Ian Wing had just turned 17 years old when he wrote his letter and was a student at Swinburne Technical College, doing his carpentry apprenticeship at the time.
