The London Flame 2012

An amazing Olympic Story as told by John Ian Wing

The Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games must be the most spectacular show in the world. It is so exciting and emotional to watch the athletes, who have come from all four corners of the globe, enter the Stadium dressed smartly in their uniform, and looking so proud marching behind their own national flag.

As stated in the Official Report

A prophetic image of a new future for mankind - the athletes of the world not now sharply devided, but - marching as one in a hotchpotch of sheer humanity, a fiesta of friendship. A wave of emotion swept over the crowd, the Olympic flame was engulfed in it and died; the Olympic flag went out in tears, not cheers, and a great silence. This, more than any remembered laurel of the Games, was something no one had ever experienced before - not anywhere in the world, not anywhere in time.
